The Regulatory Policy Committee has been asked to take an enhanced role in the new Government’s plans to introduce a new approach to regulation.

Business Secretary Vince Cable has announced that the RPC will now provide independent scrutiny before new regulatory proposals are approved by government, including those intended for consultation. This means that Ministers will receive an independent view on whether or not there is sufficient evidence and analysis to support a new regulation before they decide whether to move ahead with it or not.
